Studio 106 Saturday Night

Saturday night was crowded with WISk, viewing browsers, volunteer model and belly dancers all enjoying the special music, ambience and fun of the evening at Studio 106. A great way to spend Saturday night for sketching and meeting new people of the island.

While we were sketching a young gal walked in the doorway carrying a bouquet of carrots in her arms. She looked like she had entered the wrong door but actually stopped in to visit and view the paintings after shopping at the Star. I had to draw this from memory.

There were two lovely belly dancers modeling and dancing for us while we sketched and the men in the room looked on.

This is our one volunteer who was brave and a good model.

  1. So fun to see these! I thought of you all last night, and look forward to seeing more sketches from the event. Did you have lots of visitors? Did you have fun?

  2. Lois, you did a wonderful job capturing Celina's attitude and costume. I'm very impressed that you sketched carrot bouquet girl from memory. I know I couldn't!

  3. Yes, Phyllis, we had tons of visitors and tons of fun. But then when you have teenage belly dancers in the window, it's quite a draw! Wish I had taken more photos, but I was too busy sketching.

  4. Thanks, Sue: Last night I thought about how Whidbey it was for her to walk into the studio with a fresh bunch of carrots in her arms for a relaxing stroll thru the studio and decided I had to share the scene with everyone. Since I had no photo and hadn't had time to sketch her while there, I knew that when I did sketch the scene, at least the carrots were for sure and the rest of her is sort of what I thought I saw.
