Olympic Mist Farm

I was a bit undone when I discovered that everybody was actually sketching INSIDE the pen with the male alpacas.   However, we found that they were mostly very shy and placid--except when they saw that the females were being let out from one pen to another.   Then they suddenly became very interested and competitive.   They have sweet faces!

Comfort Winery

So many delicious choices--couldn't decide.   And I just tasted the whites!  We are so fortunate to have many fine wineries on Whidbey Island.

Coupeville Wharf

Couldn't see much of the sailboat race, but it was so fine just sittin' on the dock of the bay!

Whidbey Island Winery

Sketching location and Happy Hour combo!   A fabulous, vintage Whidbey Island summer day!

Sky Root Farm

Lots of cute pigs and goats!

Meerkerk Gardens

The Meerkerk Gardens provide not only a marvelous variety of rhododendrons to sketch, but also plants you can purchase.

OLYMPIC MIST ALPACA FARM

Invited to the incredibly beautiful home of Whidbey Island fiber artist Lynn Sheffield to sketch her herd of Alpacas. Despite the HEAT of the afternoon, the furry beasts were sweet and cooperative models.

ONE SPIRIT GARDEN

I took an afternoon with Pat Brookes to return to the serenity of One Spirit Garden for some free time sketching. I love this little potting shed that sits at the back of the property. Charming.

Sketching in FARMER BOB'S GARDEN

Sue and Farmer Bob Frause have a vegetable and flower garden in Langley that is neater and tidier than my house! Not a stone or twig out of place! So peaceful and idyllic sitting in the shade of an old apple tree sketching a garden bench with its own birdhouses! Amid the brilliantly colored flowers and vegetables.

WHIDBEY WINERY

Spent the afternoon sitting out behind the Winery building sketching some well aged barrels, oh, and sampling some very nice rose. Not Merlot. That stuff is totally not to my taste. It just has a nice, sketchable label.

WELL, GRIMPIES MAUDE, GOT MANY OLD SKETCHES?

Yep, I do. Because I went away on vacay and let other sketches (of Beaver Island and Grand Rapids) slide in instead. So I have some posting to do. But I see there haven't been many posts from others in my absence, so I guess I am not alone. So I am going to catch up. Here is one from the lovely, formal Tuscan
Rose Garden.
