What a beautiful setting Bayview Nursery is. So many lovely flowers to inspire hope for spring to make a speedy arrival. I began a sketch and Lisbeth sat down within my frame so I included her. My large vertical format watercolor pad turned out to be a bit too much for the time I had. I ended up with a few lines delineating a bit of her and some plants in the foreground leaving lots of space remaining, so today I filled the rest of the paper with more sketches. New Daffodils popping up in the yard, nettles, a bush, a small table with Kleenex, cup of tea, and various odds and ends. Just scribbles for fun. Besides Lisbeth, I'm in it too, sketching.

Two Days Sketch Montage
What a beautiful setting Bayview Nursery is. So many lovely flowers to inspire hope for spring to make a speedy arrival. I began a sketch and Lisbeth sat down within my frame so I included her. Cool. But there's a lesson here -- never step into the frame of an active sketcher. ha!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Even in your weakened, fluish condition you've managed to create something inspirational from bits and pieces. I LOVE this one. Perhaps my favorite of your sketches. The bits and pieces really fit together beautifully to tell a story of recuperating from your cold inside while spring is coming alive outside. Is all the color from pencils? Nice likeness of Lisbeth.
ReplyDeleteThis sketch is also a lesson for me about how to fill up a page when I can't finish what I started. Lots of wasted pages in my sketchbooks.

ReplyDeleteI agree. I really learned something from playing like this. To just pile it on and use the opportunity to experiment with tools, textures, values, color and composition. Nothing to loose. Yes, colored pencils.
