Mid-Winter Sketching in the Desert

As luck would have it, I was in Arizona for work and family visit the whole week Puget Sound got walloped with snow.  Here are travel sketches from Wickenburg and Scottsdale.

Seen around Wickenburg, AZ

Smokey's cowboy boots.  Saguaro against background of the blanket on my bed.

Cactus downtown Wickenburg.  Our Lady of Guadalupe from blanket pattern.
Watercolor Saguaro

Saguaro skeleton at The Saguaro Hotel in Scottsdale.

  1. These are all wonderful. Great southwestern colors and design. And you certainly have a way with saguaros. I love both of them, especially the skeleton.

  2. So you forgot to take any bright colors with you, eh? These really clear the sinuses! Love 'em.

  3. Since I AM in the desert, love all of these sketches. You really captured the 'desert feel' so well.

  4. Colorful Arizona. I was there many years ago and have lots of good memories, those huge cactus are just spectacular! Wonderful sketches!

  5. Thanks everyone. Sure appreciate you taking a look and taking time to comment.

I had a ball sketching in full color while it was bleak back on the island.
