Spent a final evening at the Edgecliff sketching with Sue. We wish Tim, the co-owner, and Stephanie, the server, and all others who work there the best in their future endeavors. We will miss them. It was great to see the place bustling with people coming in for a last meal and/or drink at the bar. Quite a party rousing as we left. Here's a few of my sketches from our time there...

Only Two More Weeks for The Edgecliff

We just learned a few days ago that the Edgecliff is closing November 28. It's very sad news for many reasons. But one of the reasons we'll miss the Edgecliff is that it has been a wonderful place to sketch. The owners and staff have always been very tolerant and supportive of our sketching in the bar. We always felt welcome at the Edgecliff. And the abundance of interesting and colorful characters passing through was inspiring.

As a sort of tribute and thank-you, Kris and I did a portrait of the owner and one of the servers, both of whom have always been interested in and supportive of our sketching.We'll miss you. And we'll miss those happy hour burgers. Best deal in town.

Edgecliff Happy Hour

I guess I was just about sketched out after 2 weeks of sketching on vacation in Belgium. I only got one sketch done yesterday that was fit to share.

My second sketch was another of my infamous freak show sketches of Kris. In retrospect, I should have submitted a montage of every sketch I've ever done of Kris for our "Spooky" October sketch challenge. I think a lip drawing lesson is in my future. I'm always relieved when someone gets up and leaves before I have to draw their mouth, which the lady in the first sketch above was kind enough to do.

Fun at Mukilteo Coffee

It was an enjoyeable day of sketching with my comrades at Mukilteo Coffee and the Edgecliff. So much fun and great conversation I hardly got anything done. But heck, everyone has been busy with work or on fabulous trips, there was much to catch up on. Stay tuned for Sue's sketches from Belgium! Here's my blah ones....

Chocolate Flower Farm & The Edgecliff

This Wednesday's sketching started at Chocolate Flower Farm and ended at The Edgecliff for Happy Hour. It was a great day of sketching and camaraderie with fellow sketchers, the delightful proprietress, Marie, and her collection of free range quirky critters. The chickens have a sad story - they are the last 2 survivors of a racoon assault in the chicken coop. The ducks have it rough, too. Let's just say I personally witnessed the mating ritual and it ain't pretty.

Library and the Edgecliff

The library workshop was so fun! And there were so many enthusiastic people wanting to learn and draw. A number of children too. Thank you JoAnn and Jay!

I did a small sketch of the flower still life at the end of class.









Sue and I headed to the Edgecliff for "unwinding." An interesting bunch last evening. Got in a few sketches. What a pleasure.

Unwinding at the Edgecliff

Kris and I headed for the Edgecliff to unwind after a grueling 2 hours of doing our presentation at the Freeland Library. :-) After we were sufficiently unwound, we did some sketching.

This group of ladies was at the next table - out on the town with Mom. Mom had on a cool shirt with butterflies and songbirds. Sooo Mom.

We had some fun and talented new sketchers join our group this week at the Edgecliff. So far, I haven't met a sketcher I didn't like. The first is of Lisbeth who was talking and moving so much that she should have come out as a blur! Due to my skillful handling, she looks beautiful! LOL

The sketch of the table and window is at the Edgecliff Restaurant in Langley. The sun was setting and the scene was changing minute by minute. But it was a beautiful day with great companions.

Happy Hour at The Edgecliff

This family was playing cards at a nearby table, but got up and left before I could add line to my drawing. I kinda like it.

The Edge

We had a great time sketching at the Edgecliff late afternoon and evening yesterday. A beautiful, crystalline day made for a spectacular view out the window. Though I have no sketches of it. The views indoors were too good. Here's a mess of my sketches...
