Raven's Roost

Thank you Terra and Tom for inviting us into such a rich environment to sketch in.

It felt like I was starting to compete with myself to make each sketch more complex and interesting. This week I went back to a simple kindergarten play space. Happy times are here again!

Peaceful Place

And so another peaceful afternoon of sketching in another beautiful place. What an island! What a tribe! This home provided peaceful vistas whether looking in or looking out. I chose a comfortable love seat in the warmth of the living room and enjoyed the serenity of this pond and waterfall just outside the window. Thank you Terra and Tom of Raven's Roost for your gracious hospitality.

Murder Mystery Weekend and Deja Blues at OM

This was the Murder Mystery Weekend in Langley.  Thousands, I'm told, of folks came into the village to try to solve the murder mystery.  The place was a-buzz, parking was full, Studio 106 enjoyed a constant stream of visitors local and not.  So, Saturday nite we ventured across the street from Studio 106 to enjoy Deja Blues at Ott and Murphy.  I sat with friends for the first set, and stayed to sketch for the second set.  Loved the music, love OM, and had a ton of fun sketching.  Thank you, David, Ro & Russell!

Raven's Roost

While our fearless leader, Sue, is at the Playa del Carmen in Mexico, she arranged for us to visit Terry & Tom's Mutiny Bay home, The Raven's Roost.  They are wonderful hosts, very generous to us sketchers scampering all over their beautiful home.  I fell in love with this large painting in their living room.  Don't know the artist's name … shall call Terra and find out!  They have more Raven art than anyone I know … and even a black Standard Poodle named …. you guessed it, Raven!  Thank you!  And thanks to Sue for arranging it.  Thanks to Nancy Van Allen, our newest sketcher who came over from Pt T. for joining on.  Nice to have you there!

Playa del Carmen

Hola, chicas! Sketched this a couple of days ago in Playa Del Carmen. Today we are on Isla de Mujeres and I am in la casa having a quiet day with a breeze blowing gently across me and enjoying a glass of Chilean Chardonnay. Getting ready to move to move to the noisy front veranda to sketch the street scene.  Lots of traffic on our street.

Compass Rose Delight

Once again the Sketchers landed in an intriguing and interesting place. Once again it was my kind of sketching heaven. Lots and lots of stuff. Lots. A puzzle for my mind and hand to fit together. Oh happy day.

COMPASS ROSE REDUX

A return visit to the Compass Rose in Coupeville, hosted by Jan and Marshall. Another delightful day among the Bronson's fascinating, eclectic collections of treasures. Thank you again for the warm hospitality!

Winter Color

The gray skies this time of year seem to make some things more colorful...these hydrangeas  just outside our bedroom window stop me every morning.

Jess and the radishes

Just another venture with multi-media. I know it looks like Yupo. It's matte acetate.
I laid it over my pen sketch just to see if watercolor would stick. It 'played' like Yupo, yet I retained my orignal sketch underneath. Once I started the test, I could not stop.

Roaming Radish

Thank you, Jess.  I declare that the Roaming Radish is a "WISK" home away from home!  You are so welcoming, the atmosphere divine, the food scrumptious.  What a luscious place to spend an afternoon!

@ the ROAMING RADISH

Fabulous Roaming Radish Afternoon

The Roaming Radish simply has to be one of my favorite places on this island to spend an afternoon. The food, the wine, the venue, the company.....all divine. Thanks to Jess for opening up early for us. The Radish was ours for a few hours and felt like a home. Even with all the eating and drinking there were many wonderful sketches created. Big thanks to the Sketchers and The Radish!

Good Cheer Goodies

Bunches of stuff grouped together is just my cup of tea. I love looking at relationships, shapes, colors. My brain just feels good when my hand is following my eye and my eye is checking constantly to see what shape is higher, lower, in front of, behind and so on. This scene at Good Cheer was perfect for me!

Hidden Treasures at Good Cheer

Sketching in a room that has many stories to tell.

Richard Evans / NEAR-EARTH OBJECTS

Loved Richard Evans / NEAR-EARTH OBJECTS exhibition at the Bayview Cash store.
His creativity is endless. I have to admit, my favorite piece was his sketch board.

Langley Good Cheer

I was definitely attracted to the dolls at Good Cheer. All three stores have been a pleasure to sketch at.

This is one of the wonderful  whimsical pieces in Richard Evans' installation of NEAR-EARTH OBJECTS in Bayview.
