Mosquito Fleet and Toby's

Mike draws the Coupeville Dock  from inside Mosquito Fleet Chili
Look here to see his final sketch. It's incredible.

People in the next booth at Toby's
The guy on the left looks a little fakey because I had to make up his face in order to finish the sketch.  He seemed a little cranky about being sketched.

Mosquito Fleet Regulars

Oh my gosh, the mushroom quiche was so delicious and worthy of a sketch itself with the fresh salad of berries and spinach surrounding it. I think these lively gentlemen must be regular customers at Mosquito Fleet Chili. Sorry I couldn't squeeze in their 4th---bad planning on my part.

Breakfast Sketching at Mosquito Fleet Chili

Rita and Chris, proprietors of Mosquito Fleet Chili, are big fans of the Sketchers. We always feel welcome sketching there.

As I was finishing this sketch of the apron, Rita asked if she could buy a copy of it as a gift for her mother. Her mother made the apron. How sweet is that? Well, of course I gave her a copy for her mom.

Rita calls this stove her baby. I think it's probably the most fabulous thing in this fabulous cafe, except for the home cooking. You can taste the love in the food.

Julie's Mosquito Fleet Chili

Julie's view from our table at Mosquito Fleet Chili.

Mosquito Fleet Chili

The bowling alley was a bust as a sketching venue this week. Way too crowded and noisy. Apparently Wednesday is teen leagues day. So we moved to the quieter, more comfortable and delicious Mosquito Fleet Chili. Only 4 of us showed up for sketching this week, which was a nice intimate little group. We all loved our lunches of mussel chowder, quiche, salad and cookies all served up by the lovely and gracious  proprietress, Rita.

Coupeville Sights

We started at the new library, went to Mosquito Fleet Chili for lunch, and then back to the library.  Fun sketching in Coupeville and such a warm welcome from Coupeville Library staff.  Thanks all!

Cool scooter parked near the library.

Then on to Mosquito Fleet where I sketched the sights out a window - lovely little boat docked at the wharf - after eating salmon & asparagus quiche (yum).

And... after lunch, back to the library to sketch.  I captured one of our Whidbey Island Sketchers through a window (much artistic license invoked).
