A novice sketches a master

I haven't sketched since - oh - 1978 (ouch) but am loving the encouragement, fun, and release of creativity provided by my new island sketching mates.  I post the following to show that even a beginner can try her hand at this.
The real Virginia; master at work.

The beginner's Virginia; lots to learn.

I look forward to learning how to add color, perspective, etc. etc. etc. in the months to come.  I've got some talented friends to learn from.  Thanks to my new island sketching buddies.  Next stop, watercolors... and when I really get brave - all those cool crazy pens Kris uses!!

Welcome to our newest WI Sketcher, Virginia Fink. A fun addition to our group! These are her sketches from Local Grown.

Oh look! It's Lisbeth again - the sketchiest woman on Whidbey Island.

Picked up a new set of Faber-Castle brush pens that I used with the watercolors today.

Local Grown Locals

Another fun day of sketching with the gang, and drawing tool shop talk.

Some day I'll get a likeness of Lisbeth. This was drawn in a large sketchbook. Too large for the tool I was using, a Lamy fine nib pen. I like a beefy line.

Sue and Sherryl in this one. I drew this with a brush pen first, then applied watercolor so the ink bled.

Whidbey Island Sketchers at work!

William Bell, proprietor of Local Grown was very gracious about having seven raucous sketchers working in the cafe today.
