Happy Hour at the GREENBANK GRILL

After the trauma of leaving behind two Snowshoe Siamese cats and a little Chihuahua mix doggie at WAIF last Friday, it was good for my soul to sit upstairs at the Greenbank Grille, in the company of friends, and sketch and eat warm Whidbey Pies Triple Berry Pie. Oh, and drink wine. Took some liberties with my colors when I got home, but I needed to flang some paint around.

Hat Monster and Happy Hour

The annual Uncommon Threads sale put on by the Whidbey Weavers Guild was a feast of color, textures and pattern. Extraordinarily beautiful and sensual. Everything begged to be touched. We must go back again next year.

I call my sketch "Reflection of a Hat Monster". Enough said.

Happy Hour at the Greenbank Grille was a hit with the sketchers.  $4/glass for 14 Hands wines and beer on tap. Can't beat that. Here's the bartender. Sort of.
I added color to both of these at home. I must say I think they both looked better before color.

Ebey Bowl & Greenbank Grille

I was excited to learn that Ebey Bowl is back! A colorful, kitschy, retro place -  it's a perfect venue for Whidbey Island Sketchers to spend an afternoon. The tasty "real" milkshakes served with whipped cream and a cherry on top were a bonus!

Kris told me she posts sketches that she doesn't like to give an honest account of what she produced at sketching. Not my best work, but in the interest of honesty, here are my sketches from Ebey Bowl yesterday.

Stayed into the evening to sketch with Kris at Greenbank Grille. Just like old times!

Ebey Bowl and Greenbank Grille

Ebey Bowl is a great place to sketch. Everyone was so welcoming and there's an abundance of subjects for picture making pleasure. I could spend an entire day there and still not sketch everything I'd like to.
Of course happy hour sketching entailed so we headed for the Greenbank Grille.
Here's some of my sketches from the day...

Good Hair at the Greenbank Grille

I can't resist drawing a great head of hair. I hear she's a fixture at the Greenbank Grille.
