Hookbill Aviary

Sketching at the aviary is always a great experience - the birds make sure we feel welcome with a VERY loud greeting (probably really about Sue's bag of bananas and Claudia's bag of unsalted peanuts). Natalie danced with a beautiful pink bird and Sherryl's green feathered friend sat on her shoulder and watched her paint for a really long time. 

It was balmy and cozy inside while the sky dumped rain outside. Such a fun day with the dancing, chatting and laughing birds. Plus, a terrific opportunity to use some bright colors!

Camels, Birds, and Sketchers, OH MY!

What could be a finer celebration of gratefulness, good cheer, friendships, and island living than to gather with over 20 talented and uber friendly sketchers who came bearing fantastic food and art supplies?  I was honored, delighted and overjoyed to host the Second Annual WISK Xmas Sketch at Chez B.  This morning, I'm sipping my coffee and dining on yummy delicious Food of the Gods leftovers, delighting as the sketches are pouring into the blog.   It feels like a huge gift to see my home and person in such talented sketches!  A merry holiday to all my dear friends and thank you for your huge hearts and spirits.  LOVE TO ALL!

Kooky birds

 These birds are made out from recycled rubber tires, old fishing supplies and found items.  All of this to create a kooky bird with a sense of humor.  They can be found at the Whidbey Art Gallery on the torn up Second Street.  Entrance for now on the Alley!  The artist is John Long.  www.whidbeyartists.com

A SECOND TRIP TO SUSAN'S AVIARY

We went "Hangin' wit da Boids again today. It was every bit as funny, noisy, colorful and wonderful as the last time. I had such a good time that, once again, in three hours, I only got one measly sketch done. But what a good time. The story and photos are HERE, and this is the sketch.
