Levi and Karla at O&M

We had a blast listening to the music of Levi Burkle and Karla Crouch while sketching in the dark at Ott & Murphy's last night. Blind sketching is a kick. It's always interesting to find out what's on the paper when the lights come on!

Something Special

I can't begin to describe the home of Chris and Jude. But this is what I wrote in my email to the other sketchers:

"If you love drama, whimsy, craftsmanship, gargoyles, art glass and optical illusions, don't miss this one. Chris built the place himself and describes the style as ecclesiastical. The setting is also dramatic,  perched on a hill overlooking shipping lanes in the distance. You will know you are on the right track when you pass a Roman ruins on the property." There was something to surprise and delight at every turn. I chose the downstairs bath, but due to poor planning, only got a piece of it.
When the clock struck Happy Hour, the sketchers migrated to Ott & Murphy's in downtown Langley for refreshments. This is their lovely Wine Flight presentation, served outside on the sidewalk in the sunshine along with olive torte, cheeses, crackers, nuts,  etc. Every single wine in the flight was wonderful.

OM Again

Another lovely evening at Ott and Murphy Wines sketching to Janie and Joe and sipping OM's delicious wines. Janie and Joe rocked the house!

The Beat Lives On

Had a great evening sketching at Ott and Murphy in Langley.  David Ossman performed poetry readings of Ginsburg and Kerouac while David Gregor accompanied on guitar. I was truly inspired and can't wait for another performance!

Beat Poetry Night at Ott & Murphy's

Sketched some hep cool cats at Ott & Murphy's "Beat & Jive" poetry Saturday night with David Ossman on beat and David Gregor on jive. Wasn't sure if I was in Langley in 2011 or Greenwich Village in 1961. Trippy!

Play That Funky Music White Boy

Who knew you could have so much fun in Langley? Three sketchers hit the town on Halloween looking for something scary to draw and stumbled upon a fabulous party at Ott & Murphy's Wine Bar. Tim Donovan rocked the house. At one point I noticed someone across the room sketching us as we were sketching them -an off-island sketcher.

Ott and Murphy's and Mo's

A fun Sunday afternoon and evening of sketching with Sue. First at Ott and Murphy's wine tasting room in Langley then a walk down the street to Mo's for more sketching and Shepherd's Pie. Here's a couple sketches...

Ott and Murphy's rugs. As much drawing as I've been doing lately, it was a struggle to see things right that day. I felt dyslexic so concentrated on capturing the sense of light.

Sue blocked my view so I made due. Of the number of sketches I did at Mo's this is the only one I halfway liked. The last was better but I gave it to the young man who was in the sketch.
