Jerry Wennstrom Studio
A Sketch from the Whidbey Island Sketcher's visit to the secluded studio of sculptor and artist Jerry Wennstrom by sketcher Rindy. An exercise in drawing all of the tons of curly red hair. on the life-sized wooden totem/sculpture.

Sculpture within and without..
I love going to Jerry's display studio, his work is so unique! Open the door and you have a totally different sculpture. A sculpture within and the one you see on the outside.
This time I tried concentrating on the faces within and planned to just sketch with the Walnut ink. So much for that idea. The pen decided to say it was low and the temptation to add a bit of color overwhelming. I tried to concentrate on the details without worrying about exact measurements.

JERRY WENNSTROM'S STUDIO
Another terrific trip to Whidbey Island artist JERRY WENNSTROM'S studio in the deep woods in Clinton. There is just no way to describe the beautiful, eerie, moving sculptures and art he creates. These interactive totems just blow the viewer right away with their artistry, their strangeness, their storytelling power. Amazing art. These are masks high on a wall, and totally in keeping with the "spirit" of the season, I think.

Fascinating Fridays
Awestruck silence seemed to overtake our group when we visited Jerry Wennstrom's studio. Larger than life sculptures surrounded us and created a mystical presence. The pieces are made of carved wood, found metal and all kinds of repurposed moving parts. What shows on the outside is often in contrast to that which is inside.

Mindblowing Art
Whidbey Island constantly amazes me. We have so much natural beauty all around us and artists galore. Then, one day you go to a Gallery hidden in the woods, with a Tower and magical, spiritual beings, carved from cedar, cut from metal, with parts that show the outer and then the inner face of life and death. These life size beings surprised and awed our group so much so that we couldn't talk normally. It was if we were in a church. We were welcomed with cookies and coffee and told to enjoy and explore, but we were afraid to touch so many of the pieces. I just finally explored the blog of Jerry Wennstrom, In the hands of Alchemy. Check it out and be prepared to meet a genius, the next time I go and I hope it is soon, I will be more adventurous. Pat

| I loved the shape of this woman balancing on the back of a turtle. I didn't have enough space to protray the turtle! |

Tha Art of Jerry Wennstrom
It was such a privilege to be able to visit Jerry Wennstrom's incredible gallery yesterday. We were awestruck, disturbed and delighted at every turn. Sketching was secondary. I really have no words to describe the experience. Check it out here:
