Just back from a 10 day road trip to the Bay Area. Soaked up sun, beautiful scenery and a big dose of urban San Francisco. Like visiting an old friend. Managed to get some sketching in on the road and on the sidewalk. Some highlights:

From the passenger seat - on the road driving through Southern Oregon |
The Driver - in Northern California |
Giant redwood, Big Sur, CA |
View from top of the hill at Hearst Castle, San Simeon, CA |
Mission Dolores, San Francisco. Built 1776. |
Great journal of the trip. Really gives a sense of being on the road. Nice values on the palm tree sketch. Feels like your style is changing. Almost no reds, yellows, oranges. Employing a limited palette?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue. For this trip, I tried using the Valesquez palette from our recent workshop. Plus, they're weren't big reds, yellows & oranges in these scenes. I like that palette a lot. Fun to play with. Though there are several colors I can't manage to get using it.
ReplyDeleteThese are great! I love Larry's stubble;)
